I was checking out a spider in my front yard yesterday, wish I had a camera to take pics.
But anyway, I have no idea what it is! Never seen one before.

It was hanging from a web off of my roof, halfway to the ground.
It was a bit smaller than the tip of my pinkie, and the bottom of it was bright yellow, and the rest black. It had short little legs, and it appeared that it could tuck them into its body, kinda like a crab.
It was round in appearance, unless the legs came out.

The bottom yellow part had lots of holes in it.

Anyone know what this could be? I live in San Antonio, Texas.

Any guesses would be excellent!

Thanx!

Sounds like some kind of orb weaver is my best guess, but you'd get better responses in the "other arachnids" forum. That's where they discuss true spiders.

I found out what it is!! Gasteracantha cancriformis or Spinybacked Orbweaver.

Too cool!

True spiders are just as amazing as Ts!

I was going to say an orb weaver or a crab spider, but Telson beat me to it:D
Kewl pic! I also agree that true spiders are extremely interesting. I was just saying that there are likely more people with a lot more knowlege of true spiders in the "other arachnid" forum in case no decisive answers came about here, and the thread will likely get moved there anyhow.;)

This will probably be moved:D Oh well!
No big deal.

There are tons of different colors, body shapes and such.
I like the ones that look like they are ready for battle.:D
