To colony, or not to colony, that is the question.

Eghh so I've been thinking about what's been said in my other two threads, and something has seemed to pop up regard whether I should have several millipedes of the same species or a mixture.

I wasn't really planning on getting many pedes to begin with, only about two, maybe three. I just find that if I got a small amount of millipedes they'd be easier to track and take care of, and so a bit easier to manage.

I thought a nice solution, would be a pairing (which I've heard is quite a popular milli-match) of one C. Spinigerus and one N. Gordanus, because they are both easy to keep, and they come from the same environment, so would require pretty much the same care. I also thought that their contrasting personalities would be fun. Not sure how they'd socialise. I had imagined they'd get on pretty well considering they come from roughly the same area. Overall it seemed like a very cute idea. <3

The colony side (which also seems very awesome), with the lack of numbers, would still probably be pretty fun, having 2-3 C. Spinigerus. /-w-/

So, being stuck between the two, I came up with the idea of having 1 Spinigerus and 1 Gordanus for a month or two, see how that goes, and then add an extra Spinigerus or two.

What do you think? \:3

Sounds good, they're addicitive so this way you can start small and then give in and get more :)

Also keep in mind the more you have the more often you'll see them. When they molt, mine might be buried for weeks - so when that happens, having a few more to watch will be nice.

Some O. Ornatus came up for sale, and it seems that there's not many left. I am tempted to grab one, but I think I'll leave that for when I'm in the swing of things, as I heard they are hard to keep. But yeah, extra C. Spinigerus in the future will be a definite.

Personally I like pairings and colonies that would occur naturally.
