I read from somewhere, that Theraphosas should be given long burrows, since digging isn't what they are specialised to do in the wild (as they occupy holes made by other animals). Ok this makes sense, but as this is the first time I read something like this, I would like to know how mandatory it is to give one in captivity. I have just received my juvenile stirmi, and equipped its terrarium with a big piece of cork tube. The problem is that I, in my endless wisdom, decided to clog the back end of the burrow with soil so that light wouldn't enter to its cave.. In doing so, I also made it shorter.

Do I have to redo it, or does it dig if it needs to? My instinct tells me that everything is fine, but somehow in this hobby one tends to question everything million times over :/

My stirmi didn't seem to have any trouble digging and embellishing the prestart burrows I gave her. She's also had to customize with each molt to accommodate her growth.
I put her in a 10 gallon tank half filled with soil right off the bat when she was 1.5 inch. She's now 6+ inches.
