how fast does a male or female theraphosa apophysis grow? I have one which has went from a 2.5 inch leg span to a 4.5 inch leg span in 2 molts... Is this a sure male? What are some signs to check for at such a young age?

Most T's are sexable after the 2 inch mark. Do you have the molt to post a pic or send to someone for sexing?

Apophysis can grow very quickly depending on how it's kept.

See this thread Female T. apophysis for some pictures of what a female's exuvium looks like. They are fairly easy to sex with an exuvium.

BTW, I successfully sexed this T as a female at a swap meet using the ventral sexing method and was proven correct once it molted. I know that in another thread you indicated you didn't believe in that method. I would be interested in hearing your reasons.

They come out of the sac at an inch, and mine has grown at least an inch each molt, so yes it's quite normal growth. As far as sexing from growth...I think you know the answer R.R. :embarrassed:
