got a 170x160x2mm UV transfering Acrylic plastic sent to me free by the awesome folks at BayPlastics. Hit them up for your projects, massive shout out. Just got to drill it out and silicone in. Too scared to go with hot glue, it'll warp everything and this piece fits like a glove.

silicone doesn't bond, whole thing popped apart. Hot glued it with a very fine bead. Seems like it's bonded much better. Time will tell
so I made the transfer yesterday, I think the spider had some problems with the Spanish moss so I took it out this morning. Slight accident with the probe meant it over heated a little this morning before I got up but fingers crossed it was only a momentary hickup. So far it's explored a little, but returned to its original tube.
