Super glue safe for Cricket Hide?

I've decided to make cricket hide out of wood instead of using egg crates and am wondering if its safe to use superglue to make cricket hides. If not can I use hot glue?

I'd stick with hot glue. Super glue contains cyanoacrylates which can release toxic fumes.

If making the hide from wood why not use plated wood screws or small self tapping screws.
