This is a thread dedicated to the black widow wannabes the spiders in the Steatoda genus, here are some pics of Steatoda I have had or currently had, you will notice they are on bugguide, but I can assure they are mine ;)

My uniidentified female, which I presently own.

This one is a deceased female I had that made itself noticed by eating a prized wasp queen that got loose...(possible Steatoda triangulosa)

also, i'd say your first spider is S. borealis. that would be my guess.

Damn, I need to get a new camera! I could have had an amazing shoot of my female S. triangulosa molting last night. And I've got 8 S. grossa females, 2 with egg sacks and one juvie that appears albino. I think I have pix of a few of mine from last year in my photo album on here but I'm not sure.

Here is my other spider, its likely Steatoda triangulosa but still too young to tell.

@Widowman: As soon as Buthus comes in here we will post picks of that Steatoda eating that widow :p

Anyways here are the pics.

And here is a feeding series of the other Steatoda:

^I like this one because you can see her using silk to restrain it.

Later today I will get pics of "wild" Steatoda living throughout the house....

I went hunting for them and got pics, I found several but only managed to get pics of two of them. So here are the wild Steatodas

I will probably toss them a bug or two to help them out....
