Ok, so not a new addition, but I caught this running across my living room last night. Anyone able to identify it?

One of the false widows in genus Steatoda. Lots of hysteria in British tabloids about them, but they're no worse than a wasp if you can convince it to bite you.
Thanks for that. It didn’t bite me but it did give me a teeny tiny threat posture when it was on my finger.

^ Yes, Steatoda grossa. At the moment I have two females of their smaller cousins, Steatoda bipunctata. Nice roommates! I don't handle them, but give them food and water. If you want to keep your grossa in an enclosure it would be a good idea to put a little hiding place in it she can use as a retreat to feel safe. They usually prefer to have their retreats near the top of the web, and it can also be used as an anchor point for the web.
