What is the best climber

I am new to the scorpion world and need lots of help.
I have built a large cage from polycarbonate that is
divided into four seperate cages aproximately 6 X 20
inches. Each sliding lid is interlocked to make it
impossible for the critters to escape.

I want to do some experimenting concerning the ability
of scorpions to climb. What I need to know is which
scorpions are concidered the most agile best climbers
and escape artists? Also preferably the most nomadic
or most active forager

I was thinking of using Centruroides Exilicauda or
centruroides Vittatus. I have read that Exilicauda has
even been known to drop from the ceiling while people
are sleeping. With that in mind, I figured that they would
be my best bet.

But since I am very new to this world I would appreciate any
help that you all can provide.

I would say Centruroides of some kind. C. vittatus are a good choice as they are not as hot as Exilicauda.

Yes those are two species that spend most of their time off the ground. I dont know what your trying to do really because they cannot climb glass. Being new to the hobby I wouldnt get exilicauda.

scorpions cannont climb glass or fresh, clean polycarbonate. i can assure you that already

however

young, small scorpions are able to climb silicon beading, water droplets, and hardwater stains on glass and other smooth surfaces. I wouldn't be surprised to see scorpions climb walls, they're rather well textured, offering plenty of footholds for scorpions.

Thank you for your responses. If Vittatus can climb as good as
the Exilicauda and are just as nomadic then I will get the Vittatus
as I am new and anything unexpected can and usually does happen.
I am not alergic to anything except pain. I just never could get
use to that feeling :)

Just so I don't have any problems with little youngens running around,
I think I will just get all males. I did not use silcone when making the
cage. I used Weld-on 4 which is a standard cement for arcrylics.
Where the glue did go beyond the edges of the seam would be a
good place for little ones to climb. I can't see a bigger scorpion
climbing a 90 degree inside corner unless they can do it hand over
hand. In that case they should also be able to climb sewing thread.
And I do hope that you will tell me that they can....that would
be scary to say the least.

Thank you again for all of your help.
Sorry for the Thread Title but could not seem to change it once I

C. vittatus are almost exactly the same a C. exilicauda or any centruriodes for that matter. They all look almost identical to each other exept for coloring. So I would say that they all can climb just s good as the other. They cant climb thread but mine climb up the long toothpick thin blades of grass in they're enclosure no problem. It would be interesting to see what kind of experiments you are doing and how they turn out.

I agree w/ Empi. Go with C. vittatus. Speaking from personal experience gettin stung bt C. Exilicauda is pretty painful. Like someone heated up a nail and hammered it into my finger. Also could be compared with someone hitting my finger with a hammer repeatedly. And if you have any little ones.... They'll be most likely goin' to the hospital. And if it's your first scorp you don't want something that hot anyways.

Empi:

It should have been:

I hope they can't climb thread.

Grass climbers...sounds interesting.

I also plan to put a secondary glass barrier about 8 or 10 inches
high around the cage. This is just a precaution in case the
critters do get out of the cage they still cannot go anywhere.
