I was at my local pet store picking up some crickets when I saw a couple of tarantula slings for under $20. One was labeled as the King Baboon and the other as the Brazilian Gaint Salmon. The problem is they were both also labeled as Pelinobius Muticus. Is there any way to tell which one is which at that small of a size?

Muahahahahah, awesome. Just awesome. "King Baboon" and "Brazilian Giant Salmon", both under the noble insignia of Pelinobius muticus.

Ask those folks which one really is a P.muticus is futile, let a coin fly high and then decide, better. Or buy both, lol.

Jokes aside, my view:

- without a great quality pics of both it's not hard, IMO impossible.

- which size, exactly?

- "Brazilian Giant Salmon" to me mean a zero, nothing. They invent new (and garbage) common names every moment.

Post some pictures, and we will see just what you have there! This is a giant salmon in my country: Rexona_laks_resized.jpg

I ended up buying the one that said Brazilian Gaint Salmon. It's smaller than my thumbnail currently. Still curious what it actually is though.

Brazillian pink salmon is most likely lasyodora parahybana
Or "brazillian salmon pink bird eater"

If that's the case sorry to say you got ripped off. Slings that size are like 5$

You never know in this case (a bizarre one, but normal routine when it comes to such crappy place where no clue folks sell Theraphosidae) maybe you got the 'right' one (assuming you wanted a P.muticus).

It's like the "three card game" that (mostly) Napoli people perform here in Italy that guillable, rich, "yahoo" tourists, always loves to fall in that, with their annoying smiles and camera. Muahahahahah.

They win nothing, you have a Theraphosidae. Bit of solace.

Not super worried about the price. The Salmon Bird Eater that size goes for like $20 around here and the King Baboon for like $25.

I'm not worried about it. I win either way, assuming it's actually one of those two. I'd be happy with either I was just curious.

You have bought yourself an eight legged friend. Care for it well.

It looks more to be an LP sling.

I believe you might have L. parahybana, but my biggest fear here is how you house it. May you post a picture of the whole enclosure you´re keeping it in?

That's what i've said. You have a Theraphosidae. Now it's time for a re-house into a proper enclosure ;)

I literally just walked in the door from the pet store. Haven't even transfered it to an enclosure yet.
