I there any way to make a shed skin soft again? I want to confirm the sex of my smithi, but the abdomen of the molt is all curled up.

little bit of water, like maybe one mil, in a zip lock with the molt. seal it up and put it somewhere warm for at least 12 hours, and you are good to go. Just don't use too much water.

You can also wrap it in moist paper towels for a couple of hours.(just did this today, works great)

Could I drip a little water on just the abdomen and put it in a bag?

I put it in a jar of 50% rubbing alcohol and within a few minutes it is completely flexible and can be 'shaped' or manipulated however you like. then once it dries it will stiffen again...
