Well my Aphonopelma Semanni “Holly” passed away today, when I got her a year ago the store told me she was wild caught and I could see that she was older, but I got one molt from her in the past year and over the year she probably ate 8 times. She was always sluggish and never moving, never drinking and I never saw any poop from her, but she was a good spider, but today I came home from work and saw her in death curl. I honored her by preserving her body and posing her on the bark hide that was in her enclosure. I’ll miss you Holly girl

Awful sorry to hear about Holly. With older animals I think the silver lining is that you know you gave them a comfortable final moments. She looks lovely the way you preserved her.

Thank you, I tired to make her look at peace in death

I like the idea of preserving them on bark to make it look natural. Just remember you may want to use pins to keep the legs from moving or curling while the body dries out. The abdomen will also shrivel as well, but there is a way to stuff it with cotton ballls to keep it looking normal. If you're interested I can find you the thread about that.

That's a good way to do it. What about the abdomen though?
Last time I did something like this I put the body in a shadow box and the abdomen just shrunk a little bit, no smell or anything and for the most part kept it’s shape, I just didn’t wanna risk destroying the abdomen so I just leave it alone
