I'm trying to figure out a good way keep my roaches mite free while they're being housed in the same room as my t's. How long can I leave the same old substrate until it gets problematic? How has your success been with predatory mites in a roach colony if you've tried it. Thanks everybody.

p.s. I've been to roachman's site and seen his roaches for sale, but haven't seen any pics. He's got so many, what's the best site that has roach pics?

I don't keep my lobster roaches on any substrate at all, I just stack cardboard egg cartons in the aquarium and they live in there. Every few days I wipe out the bottom of the cage with a damp paper towel, and I change out fresh food items daily. I've never had a problem with mites.

The consensus on the various tarantula lists I belong to is that the mites on cockroaches are unique to them and will not transfer to the tarantulas.

I have treated my roach bins with predatory mites, and it does seem to help.
