Is there any reason Not to use PVC pipe as a half buried hide? Like it releases weird chemicals or something? Or is it benign?

Thank you!

Works fine! Releases very dangerous gas if you burn it. Posted about this yrs ago.

Use google if you have more questions, many peeps use PVC for many pets. That’s how I found my info.

I've used it before for my balfouri slings - or at least tried to. They completely ignored it and dug their own burrows instead. It won't hurt them - but I don't think they like the slippery feel of it when they start digging around and rearranging the substrate, even when it starts out half-buried (and half-full of substrate).

I think I can avoid burning the PVC pipe in the tarantula enclosures. It might be a struggle - but I'll manage somehow.

I think I'll rough up there PVC pipe with sandpaper to see if they like it better.

Thanks all.

i use little pieces of a broken PVC pipe to make hides for my slings. They don't seem to have any issues with it as far as I am aware.
