proper measuring for t's

I did a search and didn't find anything concrete. What is the true rule of thumb when it comes to measuring the size of a tarantula. When they are posted for sale, it may sa 3/4 inch or 1 inch. What does that measurement include. leg to leg, just body, leg to leg kitty corner.

It usually means from end of back leg to end of front leg when legs are stretched out.

And I thought it was kitty-corner, #1 to #4 legs.
