While at the beach at St. George Island in FL I thought I might try to find some driftwood to save for use later. How might I need to prep this for use with tarantula enclosures?

I was figuring:
Deal with sharp edges
Bleach and Scrub
Sun dry

Thoughts?

If the wood was in the water during the summer months you should be pretty thorough in removing plankton and animal shells/debris. That phycotoxin is durable and just too lethal to take chances with. Perhaps a good pressure washing.

Actually, with the ocean currents all wonked out, a thorough cleaning should be used year round.

Driftwood that I've collected and used are from freshwater sources. I use the power washer to clean the surface areas and air dry. I haven't used bleach or cleaners of any type, 3700 psi water works well. After drying, I deal with the sharp/pointed edges.
