I'm feeling a little cruel, so I want to feed my rosie a pinky mouse, it's body length is 3" from tip of abdomen to tip of head, do you think it's ready? And if so, how quickly does the carcass attract phorid flies?

Your rosie should have no problems with a pinkie. I don't know how long it takes to attract phorids, but I would remove whatever is left of the carcass as soon as possible after the meal.

I don't feed a lot of mice too much mess the only thing that gets mice is my T. Blondi's. My lobster roach colony does get an occassional large dead rat which they usually skeletonize within 10 hours or so.

Holy cow, you feed rats to your lobsters? That must be a lot of freaking hungry roaches!

To the poster, yeah, pinkie mice are easy feeders. If they are real young and helpless they are probably easier than a medium/large roach.

Bon apetite.

this is over 10-12 hours

nothing gets left but bones and eventually they probably would consume those. I think lobster roaches need more protein than we commonly give them credit for my largest roaches are at least a third larger than before i put them on the "Dead Rat Diet" of course feeders eating feeders is kind of a vicious cycle lol I mean where would it end? So they basically just get a rat when i find one dead due to fighting or whatever........

G. rosea do not need to eat mice, they are not big enough or active enough. All it will do is make a mess that you get to clean up, that is assuming you get a rosea to accept a mouse at all.

Do you feed lobsters to your rats? If you did that, just think you wouldn't have to buy food for either?{D

IMO the G. Rosea would just walk away from the pinky. It's hard to feed something to a rock. I would just stick with crickets and roaches.

honestly, i havent even found a pinky that doesnt look diseased from my local pet stores...but i agree with the statement above, sometimes my rosie isnt too thrilled with the crickets, i wonder if it would even deal with the pinky. worth a shot tho!

I tried feeding a pinkie to my rosie once. She just stood there as it blindly scooted itself to cuddle her underneath her fangs {D I didn't want the mouse to starve to death so I returned it to the store
