Paraphrynus chacmool!

Super excited to keep this species and hopefully breed it! I’ll post any developments with the two specimens I have here in this thread.

Anyone wanna take a stab at ventral sexing? :)

That’s awesome!!!!! Do you have a pair? Also if breeding goes well and you have too many babies I’d be more than willing to get some of your hands:embarrassed:

Also based off of the vents and my knowledge on sexing vinegaroons I say male but I’ll wait till someone who’s better at this chimes in.

Very nice species. This one doesn't look like an adult yet, so sexing attempts might be a little too early.

I got in one baby and this much larger specimen.

Does my ID seem correct? This one is from Akumal, Mexico. I was debating between Paraphrynus raptator and Paraphrynus chacmool, but settled on chacmool due to the first spine being closer to the second spine which appears to be a characteristic of chacmool rather than raptator.

I admit that I have never seen P. chacmool in person, but I can tell you this is 100% not P. raptator. I've been keeping raptators for the past 6 years, and none of mine look like this one.

I thought so as well. Thanks! :)

Very cool, hopefully you have a pair! That's a beautiful species (assuming it's chacmool of course).

Whatever it is, I love them! I would be surprised if they’re anything other than chacmool or raptator.

Great photos! Liking the last two especially for the neat angles. :)

what camera did you use? Been thinking of checking out proper cameras, especially one that takes macro/close up shots like these.

I use a Canon PowerShot SX530 HS.

Really simple & not the greatest, but it gets the job done. Those are unedited photos.

Forgot to update this thread:

Unfortunately the amblypling (not pictured here) died from a mismolt. I found it had fallen from its molting perch and was struggling to move. It died on 4/9/19.
:(

Hopefully the larger specimen pictured in this thread continues to thrive & I am able to get more specimens.
