Other kinds of live food?

Have any of you ever tried raising any other insects/feeders other than crickets,mealworms,roaches,superworms?

Locusts and waxworms. Also u can try silkworms and termites

Are locust and wax worms hard to raise?

Wax worms are kind of a pain, but aren't too bad. Do a search of this forum and you should turn up a thread or two on it.

The USDA would kick down your door if they though you hand locusts!

I use meal moths a feeders for mantids sometimes, but they're more like invasive pest than something I'm raising on purpose.

I buy them from the local petshop like crickets, except they are huuuuuuuge.

Ill get a picture up.

You can get them in Europe, but those of us in the US will find it difficult or impossible.

Here are the locusts.

Breed them in this box , guinea pig food a few bits of apple and lettuce cabbage etc.

Bedding is meadow hay like u put your rabbits on etc.

No misting no water bowl.


Sorry bout the pics of the box but u get the idea.

I heated an old knofe on a gas hob then slid it into the lid for the vent holes as u can see.

The locust here is one of the smaller adults who were willing to partake in a photoshoot.
