I wasn't sure where to put this in the forum.

I was reading through the various exotic animal laws for Oregon to see exactly what the limits were and it seems like invertebrates are pretty much in the free and clear except for insects that could become crop pests such as locusts. Exotic pet ownership, except for mammals, seems to generate at the county level, or perhaps a municipal level in larger cities. Guess I need to move out of Multnomah county if I ever want large constrictors again; I'm still mad about having to find a home for my 16-foot Burmese when that law went into effect in Portland.

If you want to look up the exotics laws for your state, check the websites for your state's fish & wildlife department and the agriculture department since they tend to have jurisdiction over such matters. You can also look up county laws online. My research into this for Oregon and Washington shows that most of the laws at the state level only apply to mammals and, as I said previously, crop pests.

Just doing a little legal research on a slow day at the office.
