This lovely little spood crawled across my face and straight over to my hubbies pillow where it quickly lapped up his drool. Yep I dont know if thats a good way to start the day or just a bad omen. LoL We are in Toronto, ON and would like to keep her to save her from the horrid winter. This house spider is in need of ID. Could anyone please help. We now have her in a vial with all the amenities and a fresh pinhead which she is devouring. I think she looks gravid but maybe this type jus t has a lot of "junk in the trunk". Thank you in advance for your help. Your little friend there appears to be a female Funnel Weaver (Agelenidae) - possibly a Grass Spider (Agelenopsis sp.) - and yeah, with that swollen abdomen, there's a very good chance that she's gravid.

They will eat crickets if they are hungry - I have one as a pet and she eats crickets just fine - but spiders don't need to eat very often. I feed mine about once a week.

It's better to avoid wild caught prey if possible because you have no way of knowing if a random bug you catch might have been exposed to pesticides or might have parasites that it could transmit to your pet.
