I did a trade for this T. It was labelled as "Texas tarantula". I'm assuming it's an A. hentzi and female. They had another one that had just molted and was much darker. I thought maybe it was male because of the color tranformation but didn't see any spurs. Is this one an adult yet?
This is probably the mellowest T I've ever seen. It's basically the first T I've ever handled (just to take the ventral shots) and it was totally chilled.

I thought she(?) was cute too. I'll look into keying it out if that's possible.

Well at least a molt should fix that, although sometimes it's easy to appreciate the animal for it's "war wounds".
I was asleep at the switch when I picked this one up. They had another that had just molted and was mostly blackish and very pretty. I didn't take it because I'd read that the males turn black on their ultimate molt. It wasn't as black as the males I'd seen pictured and it didn't have hooks. The mollt was still in the container and it wasn't until I got home (1/2 hour drive) that I realized that I could have easily sexed it 100%.:wall:
