Hi all.

My third and fourth tarantulas came in the mail today. It was a bunch of firsts: first time getting tarantulas in the mail, first non-G. rosea and first spiderling. I got a female A. hentzi (Dorothy) and an H. maculata s'ling.

The first thing that my A. hentzi did was get a drink of water. Then she climbed and fell. She's OK, though. She seems a bit nervous. Here is a pic.

And the H. mac. OMG, it's so cute! That little guy/gal is all fangs! It's like being a first time dad again.

1/16" scale.

:) Thanks! Yes, I am so excited. I got them from Mark (aka Zeus9699), whom I highly recommend, and all his tarantula sales go back into his animal education program.

I just watched the baby eat. It was the first time that I had ever seen a s'ling eat. WOW! The s'ling is about 9/16" and the crickets are about 1/2". The s'ling has taken two down in 5 hours. It kinda digs it fangs in and wrestles and sorta rides the cricket! :D

Thanks! Yes, someday when all of these captive breeding projects come to fruition, I think they will catch on as an "intro" spider. That would be cool. But they take like, what, 8 years to mature?

They are just beautiful. Are any of yours aggressive? Mine is skittish, but never has been defensive with me. I am waiting to handle her, though, till she gets settled in.

Already, just watching the little bugger (bad pun intended) run ALL over its enclosure is great. You should get one. I have seen them a few places for $5.

They're a little skittish, like when I move the container, they will run around.

Once they are out of their container though, they are absolute teddy bears!
