A bit of somewhat useless info. We have undertaken tests in several hospitals, clinics and care facilities and have found a substance that inhibits 100% of mold growth: Carnauba car wax.
Mold simple cannot grow on any surface entirely covered in the stuff. Not that this is going to help your substrate or cork bark.
We made this discovery with a little chagrin attached. The tropics, mold central with untreated municipal water systems, is mold ground zero. I think every mold killer made, and a slew of weird science<TM> experiments failed to stop the stuff. Yours truly came up with the solution by giving our bath tub 2 coats of wax. We've used it on walls, ceilings, floors, cupboards, sinks, laundry hampers and you name it. If it can be thoroughly and completely coated, no mold.
