I just paired up some tarantulas and this was my first breeding attempt. They went at it for about 10 or 15 minutes and he was doing all kinds of stuff with his palps. I couldn't get a good enough view to see if he inserted or not. After they finished I noticed the female had a little spot of goo either stuck to or poking out of her pouch. Is this his sperm?

it is quite possible. what species did you breed? if they went at it for 15 mins i am sure the male got some good insertions. they way T's breed is not an exact science, least of all neat and clean. considering the fertilization is "semi-internal" that could account for the mess...

They were Nhandu carapoensis. It was a different female than the one I have posted pics of here though.
