I was told they’re dictators and that’s how they were sold. I’ve also been told they’re not. What do I have? Male, female, or both? And... ummm, is the fat one a pregnant female??? Thanks!

I'll post several examples of the differences here between dictator and imperator. #1 might have a molt to go, hard to tell.

imperator on the left, dictator right

P. imperator

P. dictator, smaller and usually noticeably darker pectines. P. dictator is usually darker underneath all over than imperator is.

dictator

imperator

for those into it a little more, dictator:

dictator

imperator

imperator on the left, middle and right are both dictator

Got it. So to me, at home looking at them it looks like I have one of each! ‍♀♀ In my pics of #1’s underside, I lightened it to see better. In person they do look darker to me than the examples. I’ll add another one. What are the little circles dots on the close-ups? Can you help with male and female/gravid?

Thank you!! ☺

I think #1 might have a molt to go, hard to tell the sex, maybe #2 is male. imperator can be light colored for weeks to months but eventually they turn really black, like your imperators. The one I pictured hadn't molted very long ago, it's why you see a little redness but turns black over time. About the circles, page 51 here might answer that. They pictured an imperator that hadn't molted very long ago, that's why it looks red imo. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...54_Rossi.pdf&usg=AOvVaw0cZXOVwZG0kP0jU5YOUNrH
