Leopard gecko sounds

So a friend of mine recently bought a leopard gecko. She bought a hide for it and a decent sized glass terrarium. Additionally, two bowls for food and water. She's housing it on paper towels for now and from what I know, its eaten and pooped for now. Apparently her gecko has been making, as she describes it, parrot-like sounds from time to time and spends a lot of time in her hide. I'm reassuring her that this isn't something to worry about, but I wanted to ask you guys about your input. Also, do you think lamps are mandatory for geckos and if so, could you recommend brands/models?

TIA

Leopard geckos are nocturnal and would absolutely not benefit from a lamp as a heat source. Belly heat is the way to go. Don't forget a humid hide.

As for sounds, I have several adults that make a croaking noise every few nights. It's surprisingly load. I suspect it has something to do with communication, but it seems random.
