Large burrow prey removal

Beginner owner here, my newly housed B. Vagans ~2.5 in has dug a burrow that goes directly down in one corner 3 in deep and then directly diagonal across the entire enclosure 6 in with a diameter about 1 in. If prey falls in and needs to be removed, how would it be done? The only information I found was with larger, open burrows where tongs could reach. Thank you.

I think some people have had success by baiting the feeder with a piece of apple or cantaloupe or something and then catch-cupping it when it comes out for a snack.
