i did let it go. i was worried it might be endagered or signifigant. wanted to give it a chance. had to take a few pics though. i couldn't believe the color and texture of it.

Adult dragonflies are virtually impossible to maintain in captivity, unless you happen to have a greenhouse with a pond installed inside. Raising the aquatic niads is interesting, however.

There's a good field guide for dragonflies called "Dragonflies Through Binoculars" which may help you identify that one (if you can find a copy).

Dragonfly watching has been a growing side hobby with bird watchers in recent years.
