Not much has changed, just did some species reshuffling, releasing the American roaches in favor of the Australian roaches.

Four out of five Australian roaches.

The collection is now complete, 10 Periplaneta australasiae and around 20 Surinames. Barring any unforeseen deaths or impressive wild specimens, I no longer need to aggressively bait for them.

IMG_20170617_001546.jpg

Look how tiny the one australasiae nymph is, I have two around that size, the other being slightly smaller than that. The other is making a bolt up the side.

Well I caught something a typical while out and about, and kept it.

IMG_20170619_014715.jpg

It looks like a teneral Suriname roach, but I found it running along a wooden rail. Something Surinames don't normally do...

Huh, I was not alerted at all for being tagged in this post, hate when that happens...

It's a young P.surinamensis, possibly teneral but it's more likely that the light coloration is just normal juvenile coloration, they vary in color quite a bit at this age.

I see, it's unusual coloration and behavior we're a ploy to get captured so it could live the good life.

@Hisserdude I caught two giant males of Periplaneta americana, they dwarfed two adults I caught of the same species. And their still babies.

As you can see the adult is on the side, and these nymphs just dominate it. An adult female I caught was even smaller than the adult male, but not by much.

Now I need to get some large female nymphs to keep them occupied, but I'm taking your word that the males won't try to mate with the other species.

What does @Elytra and Antenna have to say about the potential for Periplaneta hybrids?

Wow, those are pretty large looking! Look like they may be subadults, so they'll probably mature soon!

Very nice, you can really see how fat that WC nymph became after a few days in your care! :)

Well just make sure those crickets aren't a sexed pair, otherwise you may end up with tons of them! TBH, the Surinams would probably eat their eggs though...

I don't know if she's atypical or not, but I'm holding onto this one. @wizentrop

Haha nice name, and an even nicer looking roach! :D Very pretty P.australasiae, the coloration looks normal to me though.

lol I didn't get an alert when you mentioned me xD Man those are some nice looking roaches. Periplaneta roaches were the very reason that I was absolutely terrified of all roaches and after finally buying roaches, I've come to like them. I have yet to obtain any Periplaneta due to family not wanting that **** in the house lmao. Soon...

Eh, I have a slight "color deficiency" in my vision according to my eye doctor (blanking on the proper term right now LMAO, I barely ever see him anyway), so I don't really see much of a difference in the yellow between yours and most other P.australasia. :p
Oh my heart, it's breaking. :p
tmp_18866-IMG_20170622_022039-1218645480.jpg Well here's some roach butt. I've got nothing to say :p

It's baby day today!
IMG_20170624_011314.jpg
Two baby Surinames we're spotted.

Now for a more momentous occasion. I had specifically been talking to this roach about @Hisserdude lack of Periplaneta in his collection, she didn't say much but I figured she was thinking it over... Today she gave me her answer as to how she feels about that. :p
