If You Rated Yourself on T. Expertise

Hey guys, I know everyone have their own opinions on experts and their own expertise on T.'s. This hobby is great on the fact that there is always room to grow on. So everyone is always getting more experienced with time. But if you could rate yourself right now on a scale on 1-10, what would you rate yourself? Honestly, I personally I rate myself a 6.2/10 :cyclops:, but the reason is that I know I can be more experienced. But in curiosity, what would you rate yourself at best in all honesty?? :shy:

Maybe a one or a two? I've had my B. albo for a few months now, so I don't have too much in the way of experience. Mostly because she's been excellent so far and hasn't really required much work aside from some cleaning here and there.

I only really know about new world terrestrials. Been doing them for 6 years and currently have 60 specimens. I've cut a few out of stuck molts, and seen a lot of different behaviors, but not messed with breeding, etc, so I'd give myself a 7/10 there and a 0/10 for all other types of tarantulas. That means my average for all types is probably a 2/10, and I'm OK with that.

Good viewpoint...I was just gauging on basics husbandry in general, if we look at all tarantulas and specifics of each species and being able to adequately identify them etc, hell I wouldn’t even give myself a 1

Are arboreals not your interest? There are many great arboreals out there in the hobby

I have an A. avic and a C. versicolor, but the versicolor has been hiding in its web for about 7 months now, and the A. avic is out a lot, but has been a MM for 17 months, so he's getting very skinny and losing his interest in food. I think after these two pass, I'll stick with terrestrials. They're more my thing.

I say that @Chris LXXIX is above the average ratings.

Since He joined He keeps receiving PM's asking for suggestions about various species etc even by members He never talked with :bored:

But one day I will be utter awesome like Him, like @Chris LXXIX :)

If by tarantula expert one means an expert in tarantula husbandry, then anyone who keeps their tarantulas alive until their natural death can consider themselves a level 10! Once you figure out how to keep your tarantulas alive, there really isn't much more to learn about them if that is all you care to know. There would be an immediate disqualification from the expert moniker if you let your tarantulas escape or if you let a feeder insect kill it while it molts.

Probably between 5 and 6. I've only really been in the hobby for 15 months, but the export/import laws here mean I've been forced to deal with some of the nastiest OW T's right off the bat, and I think I aint doing too badly. So far I've only had 1 sling death during a heatwave, and have been pretty successful with keeping a whole range of primitive spiders. However, there is always massive space for improvement, and I like to imagine how much experience some of us must have who've been in the hobby for many years.
[Edit]
I should also state that the extreme limits on what I can keep as regards to T's mean my expertise is somewhat specialised. There are no known arboreal Australian tarantulas so the only arboreal I have is a Southern Tree Funnelweb (H.Cerberea). I'd give myself a 3 for overseas species keeping, just on the fact I know how to deal with some NASTY temperaments and basic care info

I'm not going to rate myself, but will say if you haven't successfully cared for a multiple sub families of Theraphosidae from sling to an advanced age and natural death then your score shouldn't be above a 4 or 5.

I'd rate myself a 2 , I've only been keeping for 2 years and there is still a lot to learn from actual experience. I'm just now starting to rehouse my indignant OW juveniles and reading about it or watching a video on how to do it is all well and good, but actually doing it is another thing entirely. So much more to learn.
