Nephilia are quite hard to identify down to species,Down to genus its not to hard,Its not one of the most colourful Nephilia,s ive ever seen, but the webbing looks promicing. What size is it and what way are you keeping it!

Hey Steven. I have the same species free range in my kitchen. If you check out my previous threads, there are alot of pics in an ID topic.

I still don't think it's a Nephila, the bodyshape isn't a Nephilas, it looks more lika a giant black widow, and mine is a true giant, 4-5". According to Platnik, theres no such species as Nephilingis.

The only thing I know is That they are big, beautiful, like to feed on wasps flying in my kitchen and that it's origin is madagaskar.

What's the web like, is it a round orb web or a messy cob web? Looks like cob web in the pic, but that could be due to the range.

I might have found what it is...

Nephilengys borbonica livida

That's the only Nephilengys sp on madagascar.

From Platniks site:

mf borbonica livida (Vinson, 1863)....................Madagascar, Comoro Is., Seychelles
Epeira l. Vinson, 1863: 175, 310, pl. 14, f. 1 (Df).
Nephila cruentata Lenz, 1891: 180, pl. 2, f. 19 (f, Dm, misidentified).
N. cruentata l. Dahl, 1912a: 77.
N. b. l. Benoit, 1963a: 368 (T from subspecies of N. cruentata).
N. b. l. Schmidt & Jocqué, 1986: 209, f. 7-9 (mf).
