The male is on the left, and the female on the right. Males have wider and longer pectenal teeth than females. In males, the small 'crest' which lies between the 'fins'(pectens) are more triangluar in shape. Also the 'fins' are more streamlined. The females have a more flat on top, or rounded crest, and the fins are spread out wider. The bodies of males are narrower, and the females more rounded at the end (rounder to give birth). Females are also larger than the males if you have something to compare it to.
