how big does a pede have to be to eat a small hopper mouse?

I wouldn't recommend a hopper to any size pede. Those are essentially small adults capable of fast reaction and damaging your centipede (although in the end the mouse would likely be killed). If you must, I suggest stunning or pre-killing it first.

But a fuzzy should be OK for 8"+ centipedes (depending on the species - some seem more 'tuned in' to rodent prey than others).
