just got my 1st pet rock scorpian in a 10" x 10" tank, ive put some crikets in the tank but its been 2 days and they are still there. is something wrong with it or it just takes time?

also would like some help with lighting and heat, i was thinking of getting a heat mat or is a red light enough for heat + light

thanks

Scorpions don't need to eat particularly often, and the lil guy is still settling in. I'd suggest removing the food, giving it a week to settle in then offering food again.

Use a heatmat taped to the side of the vivarium. Aim for a warm spot of 28-30c.

If the mat isn't giving out enough heat put some polystyrene behind it.

Ceramic heaters are expensive to run safely. The heater will cost you 15, the fitting 5, the heatproof wire 5-10, the thermostat another 50, very expensive.

Hadogenes species are known for going months without eating, I would just offer 1 or 2 cricks a week. For heating, go with an UTH placed on the side of the cage, a cermic heat emitter or red bulb. Good luck :)
