recently picked up this juvenile a few weeks ago. i could tell she wasn’t starving so i waited a week before picking up culture of fruit flies. then waited a week before trying to feed(today)

she’s about 1/4 of an inch in size. went w/ flightless fruit flies until she put on a little more size, but now i’m thinking maybe i should have gone w/ small crickets. they were about her size potentially a little bigger, i just wanted her to have an easy meal to bulk up

she actually seemed kinda disgusted and ignored then ran away from the fly i put in there after it kept touching her

will attach a few photos of my baby. any advice is welcome!

btw i’m keeping her in one of those critter containers used for transporting til she’s bigger

I’d first suggest you to rehouse it into much much smaller enclosure.

So that:
  • It can easily hunt within short range, and grow
  • You can watch / observe it better while it eats, molts
Below is a couple of enclosure size example:

do you know of a way to keep the fruit flies from climbing and stay on the sand? i was recommended packing tape but that didn’t work

I’d feed else, like small roach nymphs, or small mealworm.

Smaller enclosure, feed crickets, or similar. Fruit flies are too small.
