Hey there,
I'm going to Anza Borrego state park and I want to go out looking for scorps. I have a blacklight and have done this kind of thing before, but not at this location. Any tips on where I might find the giant hairy scorps or sand scorps unique to the area?

Found a list of the 4 species I could expect to find:

Smeringurus mesaensis - Desert Sand Scorpion
Paruroctonus borregoensis - Borrego Sand Scorpion
Hadrurus arizonensis - Arizona Giant Hairy Scorpion
Hadrurus anzaborrego -AnzaBorrego Giant Hairy Scorpion

thanks!

Just remember not to collect as it’s illegal to collect at state / national parks!

as for locations or tips, maybe @Smokehound714 can chime in. he’s very knowledgeable.

I found Paravaejovis waeringi, serradigitus c.f. gertschi, and paruroctonus luetolus when I was there. Try flipping the higher elevation Rocky areas.

You can go outside the park boundaries and still find H. Anzaborrego- in fact that can be found throughout the entire coachella and imperial valleys, its just moreso abundant in anza borrego.

There are much better places to look for stuff IMO, anyway.
