Here's a couple shots of the encounter. He was prodded into her container and made his way over to her web. He found the entrance and spent several minutes tapping with his pedipalps but she did not come out. After awhile he stopped. I placed his cage over the entrance of hers and left them while I tended to dinner. After dinner I came up to find him in her web trying to engage her. He worked at that without success, either because of the tight quarters or her not cooperating or both. He ended up backing out of her web and walking away. I poked him back to his container and will try again tomorrow. He had engaged her about a week ago, and looked like he was successful, but I had not observed a sperm web prior to that encounter and assume he was shooting blanks.
