I should get a couple of H. incei when the temperature gets warmer so I started setting up a communal enclosure for them since I wanted to try to start one.

I was wondering what you guys think of it, if there's something missing or that you think could be better.

(The hygrometer won't be in there when I put the actual Ts)

(There will be rocks in the water bowl since it's a bit big, I just didn't get any yet)

I'm also digging the wood stack and the layout overall looks fantastic! Best of luck :)

Yep. They use it all the time. I do it with cork bark and place substrate in between each layer.

You can end up adding more hiding spots by stacking more wood. The more, the better with H.incei.

I got the idea from abraxasComplex(and will also get the T's from him) so I'm pretty sure they're going to use it.

This was all the cork I had, that's why there isn't more. I had to use a background tile for most of it since I only managed to find 1 piece in the 5 pet shop I know around here.

Don't worry, I'll keep you guys posted.

Wow I love the setup! So I think you just gave me an idea for the exact same tank that I have laying around with nothing in it :D

Looking forward for the updates and pics! Nice job

It is(especially since I'm only getting slings), but I wanted it like that to help keep the humidity up and so that they would have plenty of space to drink when they're older without being disturbed too much by the others or the feeders.

I'm about to go buy rocks to put in there so they don't drown.

You can also bury the dish slightly so they have level access to it (or slant substrate up to the rim). I do this with larger species especially so they can't flip it, but with dwarfs it makes it so they do not have to climb the sides to rehydrate.

It was buried a little, but your right, it wasn't quite enough.

I should be much better now.

Present communal, 1st Day

I finally received them today since Canada post is back to normal.

Since I'm not used to dealing with that many slings at once, one managed to get away and I haven't managed to find her yet(they can be really fast and agile when they want to flee).

I left a water dish in a dark box so hopefully she will be attracted by it or I will see her outside of where she's hiding if I'm lucky.

One of them was a bit weak from the trip so I put her in an ICU and now(about 3 hours later) she seems to be doing better since she climbed the side of it.

I'm keeping 6 of them individually, counting the escapee and the rest(about 14-15, I couldn't keep count since a couple started to escape and I had to stop them. Also, I only ordered 15 so AbraxasComplex was very generous) are now making their homes.

Here's a couple of pics I took. I'll try to take more global ones when they start webbing the place more so that there's actually something to see.

The site you used to host the pictures gave me porn popups
Really? I would have thought they'd use something more family friendly when I selected that they were family safe pictures.

Sorry about that, I'll find somewhere else to host them.

Edit: Done. Smaller thumbnails, but porn free for the sake of our children.

Edit2: Damn, didn't noticed it resized them even though I said not to. Why is it so hard to find a pron free website to host full sized pictures.

Edit3: Hopefully this will be better now.

Awesome setup and good luck with the communal. I might have to try something like this out with my golds.

They seem to tolerate each other quite well even though I probably don't feed them as much as I should and baby roaches don't move that much so it's harder for them to find food. But I do feed them by dropping some directly in front of their hide so I know they all eat.

Here's a pic I took last night before going to sleep. I observed them for about half an hour and they never moved. I checked today and they're both still alive so if it was fear, they both retreated at some point.

If you're wondering why the colors are a little weird, it's because my room is lit with red bulbs so I had to edit the pic a bit. I still haven't made something to provide proper light and I'm not a fan of using a flash so this'll have to do for now.
Just for fun, here's the original picture:

I absolutely love my incei communal. I have ten ranging from 2i through 4i that have been together for two months or so. I have witnessed the same t catch prey then carry it into the burrow and return to the surface for more. I have dropped a dozen crickets one at a time to it before and it did the same thing every time.
