i'm still kinda new, but in a bad - very bad case - it could be nematods. but in a good case - somebody said that avic sometimes have something called "goo-mouth" i think. there are a feew threads on here somewhere.
plus somebody else probably knows more about it and can explain it better.

hopefully it's only the goo-mouth-thing

ok stupidity and fluff aside...

How large is the T in question?

Is the T eating?

And last but most important is the "stuff" gooey or stringy? Clear or white?

I was told it was a type of fungus.(if its white)
At one point I had 2 A. avics with this problem.
Both T's were removed from the collection and isolated.
If you can hold the T use a Q tip (cotton bud) to clean the mouth area.
Put the T into a small container with dry substrate and NO water dish
for a few days. Not sure if this had anything directly to do with a cure but
both T's are fine and I have had no other problems with them.

John Apple if you're around I'd really like you to post that info about the
oyster shells in this thread :) Thx

Hope this helps

That's interesting. I've had the same problem with my avics and after reading some threads came to the conclusion it was due to dehydration. After loading them up on water for a few days they ended up fine. Can you tell me where you found the reference to fungus? I'd definitely like to learn more about this as it seems to be a big problem with avics bought from pet stores.

Phaedrus.... I talked to Kerry Gowan she has a post on the main board. You can contact her from there :) She thought it may be a fungus, not sure without a swab. I never had the chance to send her one it cleared up befor I could. So its still a puzzle. I've had a bunch of different T's and the avics seem to be the only ones that have it...strange:p

Is it possible that spider has just finished eating (or is close to finishing
eating)? They look a little messy when they haven't finished eating yet. :)

Why does size of T matter? Also, how does it matter if it's gooey or stringy? Does one state indicate it's normal and the other state that it's a problem?

I mean, you say you don't know if what you did had anything directly to do with a cure, but why are you even sure they had a problem? Was it just the color? Please can you tell us a little more... :?
