I commonly keep and observe Dytiscidae (predacious diving beetles) as well as Corixidae (water boatmen) and know that Dytiscids, incredible predators, feed on various aquatic arthropods. Im currently keeping a beautiful little ( 5/8" ) dytiscid and dropped two adult corixids nearly the same size as the beetle in the dytiscid enclosure. The next morning I check on the specimen to find two corixid heads floating on the waters surface. Aquatic insect predation is just awesome. It will always amaze me, from giant water bugs, to waterscorpions, to diving beetles. Just thought I’d share a good feeding story.
