Hi guys, i guys i asked a similar thing for b. albiceps slings and i found it increadibly interesting and helpfull, so i thought it would be cool to see some for pulchras, if you keep track of when your pulchra sling molted could you please tell me what you have obsereved preferably starting as a small sling like 1cm or so. I really find it interesting to see how individuals growth rates are different and to get a rough idea of the speed at which they grow, which i know is glacial lol. Thanks in advance! Also any comments on your experience with yours growth rate wise would be amazing im hopeing its not quite as slow a grower as the albiceps

Got 2 a little over a year ago (6/20)...they were about 1/2"...

#1 molt dates;

7/19
12/13

due any day for another...this one is just over an inch

#2;

7/15
9/29
2/25

This one is currently 1.75"

Growth rates for me have VASTLY exceed that of B. albiceps, which grew slower than most glaciers. After a year with albiceps there was basically one molt and no discernable growth at all.

At least the pulcra are great eaters when small.

Honestly I got my pulchra at about 0.5" on November 9th and I literally think the last time it moulted was on 26.12.18 so it looks a bit bigger than when I got it but I'm a bit surprised it hasn't moulted again. I thought I might have missed recording a moult, but I don't think I did. It eats with gusto every time I feed it which is about once every 8 days. Hopefully it gets the 'moulting memo' soon and shifts its butt into gear.

It is not unusual for them to be on a yearly moult schedule once they reach around the 2" mark. Both my girls have had this one 'extra' October moult, but they have basically been moulting every year since they were 2". Sorry.

I currently have seven G. pulchras, they are siblings, got them all on 4/19/2018 at around 2 cm DLS, they are now between 2'' and 2 1/2'' DLS. All except #3 had a long period of fasting during winter. They were fat so they would refuse to eat but didn't molt either. The temperature in my T room drops a bit during winter to around 72F, and during summeer it's between 75-80F

once they get close to 2", molting once a year should be expected.

of course its not too high....anything between 68 and 92 is just fine.

I find max growth for most ts lies between 77 and 84...cooler and growth can be slower...warmer and the same thing can happen, although its not nearly as dramatic as the cooler temps.

All cold blooded critters have an optimal temp for growth and activity levels....warmer or cooler isnt a problem by any means though, especially for limited periods of time.

Thanks so much for all your comments guys I appreciate it so I think what it seems I can take away from this is that most likely he will follow a 2-6 month molt schedule until he hits 2" where he will then molt most likely anywhere between once or twice a year. Well at least it wont take him too long to reach 2"!! This is not a problem because I actually find smaller ts around 2 inch so adorable anyway I mainly am interested in getting both my pulchra and my albiceps out of their tiny tiny sling stages into a more stable/pretty stage if you get what I mean lol.

I agree, there’s something special about that miniature T stage around 2”, when they’ve got some or all of their adult colors and they’re just so dang cute. :angelic:
