Decomposed granite

I recently learned about decomposed granite. I love the look and would like to use it in desert setups. Does anybody know if it's safe for inverts?

I've bought it at nurseries but I'm a little unsure about the metallic looking smudged vermiculite component of the stuff I've bought. I live in a part of Texas where I can go get decomposed granite, it's just granite sand, that's what I use, I mix it with coco fiber. They seem to add something to the commercial store bought stuff, it reminds me of vermiculite but I don't know if that's what it is.

could it be perlite? pretty much the same thing as vermiculite, except perlite is bad for scorps, as it sticks to their exoskeletons... Id highly suggest against it for all inverts.
