By far, our most rare bug. A dark morph Centruroides sculpturatus, Arizona bark scorpion. The adult occurrence of this is probably somewhere in the 1 in 1,000 and 1 in 10,000 neighborhood. We have a male which lives with a harem of females. I'm hoping at least some of the offspring produced will have his genetic material... and the condition is genetic. It could be pathogenic or congenital, which would complicate or make reproducing it effectively impossible.

That is awesome! I had never seen a dark morph AZ bark! Thanks for the picture!

I agree. That is awesome. How long have you had him in there with the females? Have you seen them mating at all? It would be pretty cool to determine if these guys are in fact polymorphic or if there is something else going on.

did you separate it?!? JUST IN CASE anything happens, really hope you get some results (or even mixing of colours!)

the 'dark' specimens i usually see are simply dark orange-red. Never seen one like this before o_O

I think separating it would be detrimental to getting biz on.

In more normal lighting conditions this guy looks almost black. The flash greens him out.
