Anybody here breed H. gigas? They're common enough in the hobby that someone here surely has ;)

Anyway, I had a male muture recently and plan to introduce him to my female in a couple of weeks. My question is, do they get on resonably well, or are the females male munchers? I've bred Pterinochilus and Ceratogyrus before (who also make the hammock-type eggsac) and found that they're actually gentle with one annother.

Is it likley to be safe to allow them to co-habitate (as I've done with P. murinus) long enough for breeding to occur, or should breeding be carefully supervised?

Thanks,

Wade

I've bred them a few times and I've had it go both ways. I usually watch the first breeding attempt closely and, if the female doesn't seem ready to chomp the male, I leave them together. She'll probably eat him eventually, but I've had them cohabitate for up to 6 or 7 weeks before she ate him. You usually get an eggsac very shortly thereafter.

Thanks, that's exactly the type of answer I was hoping for!
