I saw my Avic Avic molted and this flying black bug was in the enclosure I grabbed it immediately. I can see my T a bit in her webbing and she looks ok to me and has moved a few times moving around in there. I pulled the molt out. What is this? I’m sorry it’s a bit squished I panicked and grabbed it with tongs. Is this a parasite or did it end up in there on accident? Will my T die? I’ve never had this happen. I’ve heard of the parasite wasps but she is alive and seeming normal so far.

Looks like some sort of wasp to me (not a tarantula hawk wasp) -- was your avic safely tucked inside its webbing when moulting?

[I'm definitely not an insect specialist]

Yes she was completely tucked in her web she hasn’t been out in a while because of premolt. Now that she molted she’s acting totally normal. She’s moving around in there even peaked out for a bit. It’s hard to see in there but I don’t see any damage to her and I’ve been checking frequently with a flash light just to see.

I don't even know the extent of harm a regular wasp sting could do to a T -- but am pleased if you avoided finding out!!!

Do you feed Calci worms at all?

Looks like a soldier fly to me. These are harmless.

Doesn't look like anything concerning. Still glad that you got it out, it would be an annoyance if nothing else.

Yes I realized this finally last night I usually do mealworms, crickets and roaches. But I tried 2 caliciworms a while back and she didn’t like them and tossed them. It’s definitely a fly from a calciworm she must have rejected and burrowed. Glad I tossed those. Thanks everyone I was really worried about her last night.
