My friend cleans pools and ended up finding this guy in one of them. It appeared to be floating on the surface. It's around 5x2cm and very similar to superworm beetles. It also seemed to have excreted some sort of stinky liquid from its rear when I picked it up by the sides (trying to dry it up better). Does anyone know what it is? Or at least whether it is insectivorous or not.. Chances are it might end up dying by the end of the day due to spending time in the pool with chlorine.
I can add more pics if need be, thanks.

It is Carabus (Procrustes) coriaceus, it is predatory.
