Atypical spider id

So I found this guy today (New Jersey) does anybody know what it is. I'll try to get better pictures later.

Just looked it up, that's what it looks like. I didn't know trapdoor spiders lived in New Jersey, do you think he was just hitching a ride from somebody out of state (found him in the lobby of a hotel). And it is a mature male.
