Hi Steven,
Where are you going to order this book? Its title sounds really interesting. (But unfortunately I don't know anything about it.)

Hello,

I think he's talking about this book:

Amazonian Arachnida & Myriapoda

I recently had the chance to browse through the book and it was quite interesting.

But I do have better classification books about diplopoda so I didn't think about buying it. I can borrow it when ever I will!

I can't talk about the chilopodoa part because I'm only interested in diplopoda.

Regards,

Robert

Please excuse my bad english...

I found a short introduction about the book:

“ Amazonian Arachnida and Myriapoda, Keys for the identification to classes, orders, families, some genera, and lists of known species “, Pensoft Series Faunistica 24, ISSN 1312-0174 Adis, J( ED) 2001. Sofia-Moscow, 297x195, photos, graphs, index, bibliography, In English. Hdb, 590pp. Contents: Editorial - Foreword - Book objectives - Sampling sites at Manaus - Taxonomical classification - ARACHNIDA: identification to orders – Acari – Amblypygi – Araneae – Opiliones – Palpigradi – Pseudoscorpiones – Ricinulei – Schizomida – Scorpiones – Solifugae – Uropygi - MYRIAPODA: identification to classes - Chilopoda: - Geophilomorpha – Lithobiomorpha – Solopendromorpha – Scutigeromorpha – Diplopoda – Pauropoda – Symphyla - Recommended sampling techniques. Notes: An `Identification Manual` on the Amazonian arachnids and myriapods for beginners and non-specialists has been demanded for many years. Most taxonomic literature on Neotropical Arachnida and Myriapoda is strictly descriptive, keys in translated and accepted textbooks are restricted to the higher
taxa and first introductions to Amazonian arthropods refer to specific sampling sites and are mainly devoted to insects. On the other hand, our taxonomical knowledge on Amazonian Arthropoda was much improved due to investigations for the last two decades, cooperatively between INPA and the Tropical Ecology Working Group at the Max-Planck-Institute for Limnology in Ploen/Germany. For this reason, we now make a first attempt: (1) to provide a book with illustrated keys for neophytes and anyone interested in Neotropical Arachnida and Myriapoda; (2) to supply a source of references on the actual taxonomic knowledge of Amazonian Arachnida and Myriapoda; (3) to introduce and recommend approved sampling techniques developed for terrestrial arthropods in the Neotropics; (4) to stimulate education and research in Neotropical Arachnida and Myriapoda. Special order from Europe.

Hello Steven,

I think he will send the book to Belgium so it won't be a problem, I think!

If he's not sending it I could send it to you. It's no problem because I can go directly to the store.

I don't know if the book is worth the 75 ¤, maybe you can check a museum in your area. They should have the book, I think, so you can have a look.

Regards,

Robert
