Well, what's a must-have is up to you in the end, but you won't ever hear anyone speaking in a bad way about geniculatas. They are fantastic.
They grow well, they are hardy, they are funny ("everything is food!"), they eat like trash cans, they are always visible/never hide, they grow large, they are docile and actually total cowards.

Short: Yes. :D
That sounds like my kind of T! I wish i knew where to get some of these interesting species...

I just found a great source. $15 for a little one. I think it' be so neat to raise one from young. I'd have to really research before though as I'd be so worried about a wee 1/4" baby.

I also got all my T's as slings, or at least very young juveniles.
Seeing them grow, get their adult colors, notice the difference in behavior and how skilled they become at hunting at some point is very rewarding.
The idea of getting a full-grown tarantula is rather nonsensical to me. There won't be next to no change, as they don't grow (much) anymore and they are also expensive of course.
On top, you won't have them as long, naturally.

Enjoy your A. genic, when you get it!

Tarantula Canada is always a good option.

Tangled in Webs lately has had sexed female juveniles at excellent prices. Cheapest females I've seen of any species in Canada. I picked one up. Check there as well.

A.geniculata starts out really small. The first month you think you're keeping an ant as a pet.
They can be a bit shy at feeding when so small so i fed pieces of mealworm.
Fortunately, they grow a lot per molt, double or triple sizing each time. But the size when just first or second instar startled me a bit.
